God, I love Rick Rubin, what a powerhouse of wisdom. Definitely relate to his creative astract explanations, and perspective.
Creativity is for your higher self and it’s authentic expression, not for money. If you’re doing it for that there’s no integrity. Why I never went to art school. Life experiences have proven more interesting.

Recently read Rick Rubin’s book, “The Creative Act” and came away feeling refreshed in the idea that we are all truly individuals living isolated yet shared experiences within our lifetimes and art is the ultimate way of communicating to one another

Something that helped me was not stopping myself from writing something I didn’t plan to. We often don’t follow through with ideas because ‘it doesn’t sound like me’ but you’re whatever you want to sound like, maybe adding in that element that seems a bit weird can make the song for you

the problem with the whole ‘be yourself’ is that they would preach it from one end of the world to another but the moment your belief clashes against theirs, they automatically says otherwise "yea but not this"
